Balkan ZOO

Balkan Zoo is a band of bassist and composer Mario Rašić, who has been promoting the music of Balkan elements in new, modern arrangements for 10 years. On his new album “Recycle”, this multiple award-winning musician brings traditional Roma songs transformed into a progressive world music expression thanks to top musicians, arrangements and vocal soloist, flamenco singer Nina Ćorić. With this project, the artists want to point out the prejudices, but also the richness of the cultural heritage of the Roma, and contribute to positive changes in society through music. Through their interpretation of Roma music, their goal is to build some new bridges of understanding, friendship and coexistence. The concert promotion of the album was held at Tvornica kulture as part of the spring cycle of JazzHR, in May 2022.
