The sounds of the world: “A fusion of cultures: Croatia and Nepal”

From August 21st to 25th, the Youth Theater Studio of Croatian National Theatre Varaždin will hold an applied theater workshop with our new fellow citizens, workers from and Nepal. They are members of the so-called “invisible audience” which, according to the definition, includes individuals (and/or groups) who are excluded from thinking about the theater and the theater audience, due to the lack of knowledge of the culture and language that the theater represents. Contemporary society, and therefore contemporary theater, takes into account and respects the presence of others and others in that society. Therefore, the Theater Studio of the Youth National Theater in Varaždin is reaching for a model of inclusivity and researching the answer to the question – how to bring representatives of the invisible audience to the theater and include them in the cultural policies of our city? In response to that question, we designed an applied theater workshop called “Culture combination: Croatia and Nepal”, which, with the help of percussion and ethnic music, will deal with finding topics that would talk about the problems of that group and their individuals. The result of that five-day workshop will be a street performance.
